The Calico Group

Providing quality services that make a real difference to people’s lives

Current Roles

Board Members: Calico Homes

Group Audit & Risk Committee Members

Since its formation in 1999, The Calico Group has embedded itself into the social fabric of Lancashire and across the North West. Business success and growth has seen the organisation expand and diversify its portfolio of services, with commercial success underpinning innovation and investment in social purpose. Calico Homes currently provides around 4,600 homes to people across Lancashire and our services include high quality, affordable housing to families and older people, plus supported housing and services for homeless people.

We challenge ourselves to go ‘one step further’ for our customers and our commitment to improving how we work is constant. We want to hear from people who can bring strategic insight and a diverse range of experience to the table, and who can support the continued success of our work. As a Board Member you'll have the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the strategic direction of the organisation – fostering a culture where good governance embeds support and challenge into all that we do.

Your professional experience could come from a range of different sectors but we will expect that you bring a good awareness of the context and potential impact of our work. Exceptional communication and relationship building skills will be vital and it's important that your personal values align with our own culture and ambitions. You can be assured that as part of the Calico Group your contribution can make a real and lasting impact, and that you will be able to develop your own professional profile and experience.

We also invite applications from individuals to join our Group Audit and Risk Committee, where you’ll play a key strategic role as part of a supportive and challenging culture, ensuring that sound governance underpins key business decisions. Your experience, expertise and insight will enable the Committee to have oversight of the financial reporting process, the audit process, the system of internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations. In addition, you will provide assurance to the Board that the Group operates an appropriate control framework to safeguard its assets and manage risks. Thiese roles will suit people with experience in accountancy, or knowledge of different types of financial accounts such as Charities/LLP/Commercial.

Our vision for Calico Homes is that we will invest in local communities where everyone thrives - through innovation, strength and collaboration. And we will achieve this if we deliver on our objectives:

  • unlocking opportunities for customers, neighbourhoods and communities;
  • achieving our growth aspirations and maximising our assets to strengthen our organisation;
  • being easy to deal with and delivering an excellent customer experience;
  • following a leadership approach that aims to have happy, positive and connected teams who believe in our purpose and values;
  • learning from and working with the rest of the Group to ensure a unique offer for our customers and staff;
  • having effective and forward-thinking governance, supporting financial strength across The Calico Group.
